Credly is an independent initiative backed by Pearson, a leading learning company. Its focal point is an enterprise-class badging platform built in compliance with Mozilla’s Open Badges standard to support the specialized needs of credential issuers, employers and professionals. The Credly platform provides a secure means of storage, transport and credential publishing that adds a layer of protection against those who may falsely claim high-stakes credentials.
HRCI has entered into a vendor relationship with Credly to implement the digital badging program. You must go to the Credly website to claim (accept), store and transmit open badges related to your credential(s). This is also others verify your credentials based on the metadata contained within the digital badge.
Metadata is information that is held as a description of stored data that is then displayed as your HRCI digital badge.
If you don’t want your certification to be visible to the public, you can make it private. If you don’t want your profile to be visible to the public, you can make it private. If you don’t even want your certification in the form of a digital badge, you can discard it. All information regarding you and your credentials can be configured within your Acclaim account.
No. Storing, managing and broadcasting your certification is free to HRCI certification holders. HRCI has made an agreement with Credly to offset any costs and to ensure you have a best-in-class platform to display your hard earned HRCI credentials.
Digital badging is still an emerging technology, but increasing numbers of companies, training organizations and credentialing agencies are adopting the Open Badges standard. Credly works directly with credentialing issuers to display their credentials as digital badges. While digital badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on the Credly platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a traditional paper-based credential or certificate.
While Credly adheres to the Open Badges standard defined by Mozilla, they do not currently support the uploading of badges issued by other platforms. If your certification(s) with HRCI is suspended, your digital badge will change to a “pending recertification” status. Once the suspension period has passed, and your certification has expired, you will no longer be able to display a digital badge.
