The Senior Professional in Human Resources® – International (SPHRi®) is designed for leaders based outside the United States who shape HR strategy, align people practices with business goals, and guide organizational direction in a single international setting.
Start Your ApplicationTo be eligible for the SPHRi, you’ll need to meet one of the following criteria*: Have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR role, plus a master’s degree or global equivalent; have at least five years of experience in a professional-level HR role, plus a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent; or have at least seven years of experience in a professional-level HR role. *The SPHRi requires documented knowledge of local employment laws.

SPHRi Certification Overview
Designed for HR professionals working outside the United States, the SPHRi certification signals credibility as a strategic leader, ready to guide decisions and drive business outcomes across regions while complementing local HR practices. This exam is also available in Spanish (Castilian).
Exam Time: 2 hours and 45 minutes (plus 30 minutes administration time)
Exam Length: 115 scored questions (mostly multiple-choice) + 25 pretest questions
Computer-based exam at a Pearson VUE testing center or at your home or office using OnVUE
Exam Fee*: $495.00 + Application Fee: $100.00
* Once an exam application is approved, no refunds will be made whether a candidate withdraws or no longer wishes to take the exam.
Recertification
Your SPHRi certification is valid for three years. To maintain your SPHRi credential, you must earn 45 HR and 15 Business recertification credits (60 total) over a three-year time span or retake the exam.
