As Founder and Managing Partner at J Lewis Consulting Group, Jim Lewis provides consulting to CEOs and CHROs on workforce transitions, centering on mergers and acquisitions, HR development, staff consolidations, succession planning, and executive coaching. He also provides fractional CHRO services to companies too small to have a CHRO.
Prior to creating the J Lewis Consulting Group, Lewis was Vice President and CHRO at NSF International in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His responsibilities included all HR functions for 42 locations in 17 countries. He also has managed the integration of 17 corporate acquisitions in eight countries. NSF was a 2009 winner of the Arbor Award for HR Excellence. Lewis was named 2010 HR Executive of the Year by the American Society of Employers.
He is an adjunct faculty member at Cleary University and a guest lecturer at Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University. His areas of focus have included HR Metrics, Ethics in Employment, No-For-Profit Management, Business Statistics, and Financial Analysis. He has provided the faculty address at three university commencements.
Lewis serves as Chair of ISO Technical Committee 260, a global standards development initiative sponsored by the International Organization for Standardization, creating standards for the HR profession. Lewis also served on the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) HR Metrics and Human Capital Management Panel, and as a judge for the SHRM National Human Capital Leadership Awards. Prior to his appointment to the HRCI Board of Directors, he sat on the Institute's Test Development Panel for the Global Professional in HR (GPHR®) certification program.
Lewis holds a Bachelors of Business Management and an M.S. in International Administration. He also holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR®).
