Board Member

Angeles “Angie” Cordova currently is Senior Vice President of Human Resources Control and Compliance for Citi in Mexico. In this capacity, she is responsible for all control aspects of special projects across the HR function globally. Special initiatives include, but not limited to: Bankruptcy Resolution Planning (BRP) and implementation of HR controls for Citi's new global HRMS and learning platform, payroll services and case management system. In addition, she is responsible for the strategy design of the HR Control and Compliance function to streamline efforts across the HR function globally to target most critical items to mitigate risk for the franchise and create efficiencies across the team.

Prior to this she was the SVP, Head of HR Control and Compliance for Citibanamex, Mexico’s second largest bank with over 1,500 branches and 40,000 employees across the country. Previously, she was leading Global HR Transformation for Citi, focusing specifically on Employee Lifecycle projects, which includes: global standardization of: New Hire Data and Forms, Records Management and Background Screening. In this capacity, she works with HR regional leads to create consistent and compliant processes that make onboarding of new employees easier and more efficient.

Cordova has 15 years of HR experience and has held multiple positions in various locations across the United States, Central America and Chile. She has served as an HR Generalist, Talent and Development Manager, HR Merger and Acquisition Project Manager, Staffing Vendor Manager and Global Background Program Manager. In 2007, she was featured in the cover of Hispanic Magazine as a “Rising Star.”

Cordova has been a volunteer for the Institute since 2010, participating as an Item Writer and Reviewer for the Human Resource Management Professional (HRMP) and Human Resource Business Professional (HRBP) certifications. She participated in the development of these two new certifications from inception through to implementation in 2012. In addition, she is an active member of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA).

She holds a Bachelor’ in Human Resources and International Business from St. Mary’s University and an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She also holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute and is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
