Rescheduling Your Exam
Reschedule as early as possible because test centers fill up quickly (particularly at the end of each exam testing period). If you wait until the exam testing period starts, you might not even be able to schedule an exam appointment at all. This happens rarely, but if it happens to you, you may withdraw from the exam and apply for a 50 percent refund of your exam fee. If you are taking the exam in the US, in a US territory or in Canada, reschedule by contacting Prometric at www.prometric.com/hrci or (800) 467-9582. If you reschedule an appointment by phone, confirm this transaction online at www.prometric.com/hrci. If you will take the exam as an international candidate, contact Prometric at www.prometric.com/hrci or your Regional Contact Center.
To reschedule, you must:
- have a confirmation number for your exam
- reschedule within the same exam period
- reschedule by 12:00 noon ET (GMT -5) three business days before your exam date. If you do not reschedule by that date and time and you do not take the exam, you will be considered a no-show and will not be eligible for a refund
- verify that Prometric processed your rescheduled appointment. Contact Prometric immediately at (800) 467-9582 if you do not receive an email confirmation as soon as you reschedule
- Pay $85 reschedule fee each time you change your exam date and/or time if you reschedule during the exam testing perio

Exam appointments can be rescheduled within the same exam period. A candidate may reschedule an exam appointment without a fee if it is done before the opening of the testing period. Exam testing period is May 1 - June 30 for the spring testing period and December 1 - January 31 for the winter testing period.
In order to assure that there is adequate capacity in the centers where the HR Certification Institute examinations are administered, managing the process of scheduling and rescheduling appointments (reservations) is critical to assure the ability of all the Institute's candidates to obtain a testing appointment on the date and time requested. The purpose of the fee is to have candidates plan ahead. We have noticed that the rate of chronic cancellations has presented problems for fellow candidates who are not able to select their first and in some cases their second appointment choices. Canceling Your Exam
You can cancel your exam at www.prometric.com/hrci or by phone. If you cancel online, keep a copy of the cancellation notice for your files. If you cancel by phone, confirm it online.
If You Have Scheduled the Exam
You may cancel your exam on or before 12:00 noon ET (GMT -5) three business days before the exam. Contact Prometric at www.prometric.com/hrci or (800) 467-9582. You must have your confirmation number to cancel.
If You Have Not Scheduled an Exam
If you want to withdraw from an exam, refer to the “Refunds” section.
The amount of your refund will depend on how and when you cancel your exam. Refer to the Refund section for information about full or partial refunds. If you have a special accommodation (ADAA) request, call (800) 967-1139 for your refund.
Changing Your Test Center
Follow the guidelines under "Rescheduling Your Appointment" above.
If you change between a US, US territories or Canadian test center and an international one, you will need to schedule a new appointment at www.prometric.com/hrci or (800) 467-9582. If you're an international candidate, call your Regional Contact Center.
