As the name suggests, item-review panels evaluate exam questions. These panels are made up of volunteers who have successful question-writing experience. These volunteers also attend each meeting of the item-writing panel so they can give direct feedback to the writers.
The panel reviews all items to ensure they are properly written and that they
- use established item-writing guidelines
- reflect the HR body of knowledge
If the panel finds a problem, the question is returned to its writer. If the question is edited and resubmitted, it will begin the process again. After the review panel approves a question, it moves to pre-testing.
