Online Chats with Certification Counselor

Do you have questions about applying or preparing for PHR, SPHR, GPHR or California certifications? We conduct periodic chats that allow people who are considering HR certification to ask our staff members specific questions about our certification exams.

Sample Questions

Detroit, MI: I am currently in school for my BBA - HR Management, but I have also worked in various positions within the HR field for over 15 years. Several of those years have been in a professional (exempt-level) capacity. I was wondering if I am still eligible to take the SPHR certification.
Virtual Certification Counselor: If you have two years of professional (exempt-level) work experience in the HR field, you will be able to apply for SPHR exam. Although the two years of HR work experience need not be current or sequential, more recent experience is more likely to coincide with the exams content.

Annapolis, MD: I have been in HR for the past 10 years, recently unemployed and now currently underemployed with a part-time position as an instructor. Will I still be able to take the exam?
Virtual Certification Counselor: Yes, as long as you have incurred 2 or more years (past or present) of professional- level experience in the HR field, you are eligible to sit for the exam.
