HRCI - Assessment Exam: PHR and SPHR Assessment Exam

HRCI offers online assessment exams for the PHR and SPHR certifications. There are two versions for each of the exams. HRCI recommends candidates take one exam before beginning a study regimen to determine where to concentrate their efforts and a second before sitting for the actual exam to become familiar with the format of the test questions. The assessment exams were developed using actual retired test questions from previous exams. The assessment exams are the closest assessment exam to the "real thing" on the market today, since it is the only assessment exam designed and developed by HRCI.

Candidates may register for either or both the PHR and/or the SPHR assessment exam. Each exam level has a different focus but covers the same body of knowledge. The PHR exam is more focused on the technical/operational aspects of HR whereas the SPHR exam is more focused on strategic HR and policy issues. While the actual exam consists of 225 questions, each assessment exam consists of 75 questions. However, the percentages reflected in the content outline for each functional area remains consistent for both the actual exam and the assessment exams. You may take either or both assessment exams, but we strongly recommend that all candidates become familiar with the ideal profile of a PHR and an SPHR candidate before selecting their assessment exam level. Now, for the first time, HRCI is offering two versions of both the PHR and the SPHR exams. This is ideal for candidates who may want to take the first exam to assess their level of preparedness, and follow up with the second assessment exam after completing their exam preparation (a “pre-test” and a “post-test.”) You may purchase these exams as a “package” at a discounted rate of $70 (in order to receive this discount, you must purchase both versions of the exam as a package up-front).
