> > > Certified Professionals Shape Future Exams
In mid-September, a practice analysis survey was sent to approximately 6,000 professionals who hold the PHR or SPHR designation. These randomly selected individuals represent the certified community and will validate the updated HR body of knowledge content outline being proposed. Certified professionals’ input is key to exams that truly reflect mastery of what HR generalists should know and be able to apply.
The survey is part of the current practice analysis study. Responses will be reflected in an updated exam content outline presented to the HRCI Board of Directors in November. Once the outline is approved, subject matter experts will work throughout 2006 to remap and develop exam questions that reflect the current body of knowledge. The first exams based on these revisions will be offered in the spring of 2007. Every five years HRCI conducts a practice analysis study to gather information about current HR practice patterns and provide comprehensive descriptions of the functional areas, as well as responsibilities performed and knowledge required in actual practice. For a complete description of the process, see “How Exams are Developed” in the “Certification” section of HRCI.org. |
